Library Loot | January 2011
After swearing off of review books my hubby bought me a Nook ereader (specifically for library eBook usage) for Christmas (to go along with my Kindle DX) so I would have a way to fed my insatiable appetite for books and not put us in the poor house.
Romance books are the largest, and fastest growing, segment of the eBook market and it’s been reported that’s because readers (female and male alike) can now read their romance novels and not be embarrassed by the cover art. Looking at my library loot for January one would think that I’m one of those readers. Well I am, kind of, and it’s nothing to do with the cover art. I’ve never been embarrassed by historical romance book cover art it’s simply because I choose not to spend my dollars on books that I’ll only read once. Having my library system spend my tax dollars buying historical romance books is a plus for me.
Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Marg and Claire that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library.
- At the King’s Command, Tudor Rose #1
- The Maiden’s Hand, Tudor Rose #2
- At the Queen’s Summons, Tudor Rose #3
- How to Woo a Spinster (a Daughtry family prequel)
- How to Tempt a Duke, Daughtry Family #1

Our library is so behind the times! We’ve just gotten downloadable audio books.
Actually my library system is the same way – downloadable audio books only. I pay a fee to the neighboring system for eBook services but it’s already paid off.
Hi Marcia.
Those Susan Wiggs book covers are stunning!
I think historical romance novels have some of the most beautiful covers. I think it’s the period clothing and jewelry. So pretty.
Enjoy your books!
I too love the covers on historical romance novels. It is all about the dresses and jewelry. I never mind showing them off in public.
I so want to read the Wiggs books for sure. I checked out book one but never got to it!!! I’m with you on getting my books from the library
I actually stopped using my local library because I could never find a place to park and the books are so badly abused by other patrons but having my Nook has changed that. No more parking hassle and the (e)books are always in perfect condition.
I’ve been wanting to read something by Susan Wiggs for awhile now. And I’ve got to agree with Christine…I love those covers! Hope you enjoy all of these
I love HF cover art. I really enjoyed books #1 & #2 of the Tudor Rose trilogy by Susan Wiggs. I didn’t finish reading book #3.
