I think commitments sometimes take awau from the joy of reading, especially if you end up in a run of crappy/uninteresting books. Good luck with your bookcation

What a great idea! I’ve been doing that a bit myself but on a smaller scale. I haven’t had much chance to get to books I’ve won and my library books so lately I’ve been reading a “fun” book every other time. It’s made it much more enjoyable but I’m a little bit behind. I really needed it though. The pressure can take all the fun out of it even if it’s a good book. That’s why I didn’t join any challenges this year. I knew it would be too much for now. Good for you and enjoy September! I look forward to hearing all about it!

I think this is what I have been feeling all month. Only for me, it isn’t review books I am feeling tied to, it is the challenges I joined. I really hate not finishing them,and the books I have chosen for them are all books I do want to read, but there are so many new ones that have come out! Hope you have a great month!!

I’d love to join you but I’ve said yes to several books that need to be reviewed in Sep. I know what you mean about review books, tho. Sometime last year I had decided to not take any new review books ever. As the emails come and the descriptions sound so enticing it’s not easy to say no, but I have kept the number of review books manageable. Until last month when I accepted more than I should have. So Aug & Sep are going to be commitment months for me. I am reading one of my shelves right now that’s purely for fun.

Funny you posted this. For awhile now, I’ve been thinking about taking a library break and reading my purchased, but still unread books. I thought September would be the month to do this, but I have too many checked out to attempt this now. (Most of the books I have checked out, I’ve been on the wait list for awhile and of course they all came available at once before I had the chance to “suspend” them – isn’t that how it is?)
I’m thinking October may be best for me. I do like your idea though (love the title!)

I want to do the same soooo badly. I’m finding some really good things on my shelves I’d forgotten I owned because it’s been too long since I acquired them. But I’ve been ill for a few months and LibraryThing is on my case about the reviews I owe them. I hope you really do it. Maybe you could start a club or a Free to Read challenge for others who do it. Enjoy your month!

Great Idea. I think I will do it for Nov since I have a few commitments till Oct. I was thinking the same thing. I hate lists and deadlines sometimes. I need a break from it.
