Cover Attraction | The Stone Child by Dan Poblocki
I’m a very visual person and love beautiful, or interesting, cover art. It entices, and invites, me to stop and take a peek instead of walking right on by. This week’s Cover Attraction is:
Title: The Stone Child
Author: Dan Poblocki
Release date: August ’09

What if the monsters from your favorite horror books were real?
Eddie Fennicks has always been a loner, content to lose himself in a mystery novel by his favorite author, Nathaniel Olmstead. That’s why moving to the small town of Gatesweed becomes a dream come true when Eddie discovers that Olmstead lived there before mysteriously disappearing thirteen years ago. Even better, Eddie finds a handwritten, never-before-seen Nathaniel Olmstead book printed in code and befriends Harris, who’s as much an Olmsteady as he is. But then the frightening creatures of Olmstead’s books begin to show up in real life, and Eddie’s dream turns into a nightmare. Eddie, Harris, and their new friend, Maggie, must break Olmstead’s code, banish all gremlins and monster lake-dogs from the town of Gatesweed, and solve the mystery of the missing author, all before Eddie’s mom finishes writing her own tale of terror and brings to life the scariest creature of all.

Nice cover. . .My first impression is this will be “creepy” book, however it looks so good.
Here’s my cover attraction for the week:

Love that cover. It reminds me of that book to movie….? in the Garden of Good & Evil; Brenart.
My cover also features a child though she isn’t made of stone …
I find that cover just a little bit creepy.
It reminds me of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil as well. Quite a neat cover and I like the concept of the book too! Here’s mine: http://tielesse.livejournal.com/9901.html
I love this cover and I’m adding this book to my pile it sounds fantastic!
I love the lighting in this cover…and the play with the shadows
Hi there! I wrote this book, and just wanted to say thanks for featuring the cover and for the nice comments! I was so thrilled by what the artist, Steve Stone, came up with. He was definitely going for creepy. Looking forward to hearing what you all think about the book when it comes out on 8/25. I also think this is a brilliant idea for a post: there are so many amazing book covers out there. Thanks again.
Cheers,
Dan
This is a great cover….I keep forgetting to post one. I’ll work on it.
I love that statue and don’t find the cover creepy at all funny enough. But then, I love graveyards too so it’s probably just me. It’s cool that the author of the book saw your Cover Attraction and left a comment.
